Buy Canadian is easy to say at a grocery store and hard to do on the web. Where a site is hosted, who holds its domain, and which services run behind it are public facts, but nobody had put them in one place. Proudly.ca is a trusted, verified database of Canadian web services, and a scanner that reads any site against it.

How the database earns "trusted" and "verified"
A scan measures what it can see: DNS records, registration data, the network a site answers from, and the services loaded on its homepage. Those measurements are ours, and the report shows each one. Service providers are rated in a library that people review; a provider entry counts as verified once a person has confirmed its ownership and its Canadian presence, with sources on the page.
Some things cannot be measured from outside. Site owners can add self-reported details, and those are shown as unverified until reviewed. A federal business number is the exception: we confirm it with Corporations Canada. When a site hides its stack behind a CDN, the scan says "inconclusive" rather than guessing.
Credits
Network ownership data comes from IPinfo. Technology fingerprints come from the open-source webappanalyzer project. Registration data is read over RDAP from the registries themselves.
